Reading and listening
The edition page lets you read the complete selected passage and play its official ESV recording. You can also continue to ESV.org for additional study tools and surrounding chapters.
Public editions and short-lived cache
Approved weekly editions are public and may be opened without an account. The edition value in a link selects the correct weekly edition; it is not a password and does not contain a subscriber identity.
To reduce repeated API requests, the service keeps only a small rotating cache of approved ESV passages for up to eight days. The cache has four slots and reserves a conservative 100-verse allowance per slot, keeping the stored maximum below the 500-verse API guideline. Older entries are expired or replaced automatically.
